For the people who commented how this is a dangerous bend, I disagree. Furthermore, I’ve driven around it for over 40 years and somehow never fallen off.

All that says is that you are an extra cautious driver with maybe a little luck thrown in there.

I live near one of the worst crash intersections on the Island. A sign was there at one point warning it to be an accident hot spot. Maybe still there. It is not a sign I am looking for. Me neither. Never had a crash either.

Last accident I had was almost 40 years ago & you can guess it, a drunk came out of a side road, didn’t stop, & used his body to decorate the front of my car. Lucky him. I got stopped before he hit. That may have saved his sorry life.

I agree and disagree at the same time. The bend itself is a bad design and is dangerous just like the bend in the road at Crow Lane and the one at the bottom of Brighton Hill. The roads listed ,like many others in Bermuda, are angled against the nature curve of the road and also dip and therefore offer little traction for tires. I’m sure this was designed to assist with water drainage or maybe it was just the way things were done 60-70 years ago. However, when driven a 40kph it is safe! Should these roads be “fixed”? I would say yes, since we do have ambulances, fire trucks and police responding to emergencies in the area on a daily basis. I also was guilty of speeding at 60kph+ when I had to take my wife to the hospital when in labour, and again when my son broke his leg. Would it have helped this victim? Maybe, maybe not. That is not the point. If it means that there will be 1 less accident or life lost we must ask ourselves, can we afford NOT to fix them!

And a man is in critical condition and you focus on the whether or not the associated bend is or isn’t dangerous.

      Hmmmm!

  2. positivity says:

    Sending prayers for his recovery.

  3. Oh no says:

Hope all involved get better soon.

  4. swing voter says:

I sincerely hope the gentleman makes a full recovery. Without judging who may be at fault from the photo, I’ll say again that There are no dangerous corners, roads, intersections. The danger is that some of us have little to no appreciation of speed combined with bad decision making which cause collisions (accidents are a rarity).
