Post Box Payment Due Date Extended To Feb 15

The Bermuda Post Office [BPO] said they “would like to advise the public that the due date for payment of Post Box rental fees has been extended to February 15th, 2015 due to the recent staffing disruptions as well as separate system issues.

A spokesperson said, “Payments made from February 16th, 2015 will be subject to the late penalty fee of $25 in addition to the post box rental fee. Payments can be made in cash, by cheque, or by debit/ credit card at any post office around the Island, as well as online at http://shop.bpo.bm

The annual Post Box rental fees are as follows:

Box Size Rate
Small $85.00
Medium $120.00
Large $300.00

    Can somebody explain to me why a PO box, which saves the post office labour, costs so much? Why should it cost anything at all really?

    • Think about it says:

      Staff is still required to sort the mail and place it in the box. The post boxes are housed in a building with electricity that costs money. The only savings is the post person does not have to go out to your home to deliver it. That is it… all other costs associated with mail remain the same. It could definitely be cheaper, but free is a stretch.
