Saying that we are “only two weeks into the New Year and there is already a flurry of activity underway at the Bermuda Tourism Authority for 2015,” the Bermuda Tourism Authority provided an overview on some of the activities underway and due to take place.

The BTA’s overview:

We’re only two weeks into the New Year and there is already a flurry of activity underway at the Bermuda Tourism Authority for 2015. So much so, you may have missed some of it in the wake of the holidays. Bermuda Tourism Authority briefs on what’s happening.

Tourism Summit

The agenda is set, the presenters are confirmed and the registrations are flowing in. The Bermuda Tourism Summit will take place Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Southampton. The deadline to register is today so if you haven’t done so already please review the agenda and get registered.

Let’s Eat

The fourth annual Restaurant Weeks began last night and we’re thrilled seasoned local restaurateurs are telling us it’s shaping up to be the best one yet. They have 44 participating restaurants – the most ever. They have a new focus on Bermuda-inspired cuisine to highlight the destination’s uniqueness which visitors crave. And they have introduced a People’s Choice Award – to reward the skills of their talented community of chefs. Read More>>

Horseshoe Bay Beach

We already know Horseshoe Bay Beach on spectacular south shore is one of the best beaches in the world and now we have a chance to make sure the world is reminded too. USA Today is running a readers’ choice poll online and Horseshoe Bay is in contention to take first prize in its category, but to seal the deal we need your vote. Vote Now>>

Pink Sale

A Bermuda Pink Sale launched online this week offers visitors 50% discounts on stays of three nights or more at participating hotels between January and April 2015. For the first time since Bermuda began offering the Pink Sale, the digital promotion is geo-targeted to New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto. See it promoted on their Facebook page.

Vacation Rental Market

The Bermuda Tourism Authority is writing a White Paper on the Island’s vacation rental market and wants to hear the public’s input, starting with a discussion on the topic at a Bermuda Tourism Summit next week.

BTA wants to ensure the Bermuda tourism product and Bermuda homeowners are properly positioned to benefit from the growth of this market segment. An important part of establishing that position is to listen to hoteliers, homeowners, realtors, legislators and other stakeholders to assess their viewpoints. Read More>>

Online Video

Geo-targeted online video ads are running messages with a weather dependent trigger. For example, if the temperature is 60 degrees or above in Bermuda and less than 32 degrees in the northeast ad messaging will show real time temperature readings and a “book now” call to action. New video storytelling assets are also running now with Afar, Tastemade and Orbitz.

A spokesperson said, “That’s a summary of some of the things BTA has been up to over the past couple of weeks. You can expect us to keep you up-to-date all year long on our plans to grow the Bermuda Tourism industry. In between our correspondence you can also say abreast of statistical performance, press releases and social media activity using their digital platforms.”
