Photos: CedarBridge To Host SPRITZ Hair Show

January 30, 2015

Team building and demonstrating the ability to work and create with their hands are two of the main outcomes expected as students from CedarBridge Academy get set to host their first ever hair show, called SPRITZ, which will take place on January 31, 2015 at 7.00pm in the Central Hall of CedarBridge Academy.

Personal Care teacher Taiyana Rayner said, “The artwork and the work that the children have put into this endeavor will certainly let the audience know what CBA is capable of doing. These students have worked hard and they have been extremely creative.

“There is a need to show the value of non-academic courses. Students can create and work with their hands and the cosmetology business is important.”

This will be the first time this venue will be used for a show. The 45 student models and 16 student assistants will transform the corridor into a show that will be spectacular, showcasing a variety of hairstyles, and scenes that are intended to demonstrate the skills students have acquired.”

Audience members will be able to see the students work as they display a variety of hairstyles for long, short, natural, weave and Avant guard hairstyles.

Ms. Rayner, who is working with students for the hairstyles, has also garnered the barbering assistance of Runako Hill aka Kurly Shotta from The Headquarterz Barber Shop, and providing assistance with makeup will be independent makeup artist  Kyla Tear.

“This will be an opportunity to people to witness the talent that exists at CedarBridge,” Ms. Rayner said. ”Working to develop this show has provided some remarkable learning experiences for the students.”

Ms. Rayner began preparing for this show last school year and has traveled overseas to purchase hair supplies that were not available in Bermuda, and worked to raise funds with a codfish breakfast, car boot sale, bake sales, and raffles.

Vendors at Spritz will include BDA Super Motocross Association, Sunshine Company, Ja’Nauzi’s Hair Salon, The Salon Store, and Bundle Bermuda, who will be selling products at the event. Karib Krave will be providing food for sale during the event.

  1. Hey says:

This is so cool! I wish this class was offered at my school.

  2. Um Jus Sayin says:

Good luck Ms. Rayner and students. I will be there to support you with your fundraising efforts. I agree, nonacademic subjects need to be highlighted also. Gives certain students something to aim for if they are not academically strong.
