Football: First & Premier Division Results

Footballers in the Premier Division and First Division were  in action this past weekend, with BAA, Somerset Eagles, Paget Lions, Boulevard Blazers and Flanagan’s Onions earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.

First Division

BAA 7 Wolves 0

It took BAA only 9 minutes to get on the score-sheet with Laquan Thomas found the back of the net, Thomas doubled the lead three minutes later and when Troy Tucker scored in the 19th BAA held a 3 – 0 lead over Wolves. Morricki Iris made it 4 – 0 to BAA with a goal in the 37th. Three minutes into the second half BAA would go ahead 5 – 0 with Iris scoring his second goal of the game, Nicholas Araujo scored in the 54th minute to extend BAA’s lead to 6 – 0 and then Jair Minors closed out the scoring with a strike in the 80th minute as BAA recorded a 7 – 0 win over Wolves

Devonshire Colts 1 X-Roads 1

At the Police Field, Devonshire Colts kept their unbeaten streak alive with this 1 – 1 draw with X-Roads. After a scoreless first half, Kyhon Smith gave visiting X-Road’s the lead early in the second half, but Devonshire Colts substitute Jomei Bean-Lindo scored a blistering shot from some 25 yards out to draw the home team level and for the second time this season the two teams shared the points.

Somerset Eagles 1 Ireland Rangers 0

A lone first half strike from Khimo Harrison earned the Somerset Eagles a 1 – 0 win over Ireland Rangers at the White Hill Field.

Paget Lions 2 Young Men Social Club 1

At the Southampton Oval, Kelvon Butterfield gave visiting Young Men Social Club a 1 – 0 lead in the 21st minute, but Arrington Smith equalized seven minutes later for the Paget Lions. The winner then came in the 80th minute when Jahniya Richardson found the back of the net for the Paget Lions to earn a 2 – 1 win.

St. David’s 2 Boulevard Blazers 3

At Lord’s in St. David’s, James Pace gave St. David’s the lead in the 8th minute, but TaiVince Douglas would equalize for the Boulevard Blazers in the 34th minute, Pace would put St. David’s back in front in the 52nd minute, but Ian Coke would level the score at 2 – 2 three minutes later. Coke would find the back of the net again in the 85th minute and it proved to be the winner for the Boulevard Blazers.

Premier Division:

Flanagan’s Onions 4 Devonshire Cougars 2

At the BAA Field, Keston Lewis stunned the Devonshire Cougars with his display of finishing in the first 45 minutes as Flanagan’s went to the break leading 3 – 0. Lewis opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a left footed shot from the edge of the box, seven minutes later Lewis was able to outrun the Devonshire Cougars defense and round the advancing goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the net pass a defender who managed to get on the goal line. Lewis then completed his hat-trick with his third goal of the half give Flanagan’s the comfortable lead.

The second half saw the Devonshire Cougars pull a goal back through Machi Battersbee, but Vincent Minors Jr. would restore the Flanagan’s Onions’ three goal lead, only to have Dominique Williams score a blistering shot for Devonshire Cougars to make the score 4 – 2.

Southampton Rangers 1 PHC Zebras 0

At the Southampton Oval, in what many would be hoping as the final Landlord versus Tenant match the Landlord Southampton Rangers got a 70th minute goal from Jesse Seymour as they defeated the PHC Zebras 1 – 0 throwing the league wide open.

Somerset Trojans 1 Robin Hood 0

After a scoreless first half at the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Trojans got a lone strike from Jaz Ratteray-Smith as they defeated the newly crowned Friendship Trophy Champions Robin Hood.

Dandy Town Hornets 3 St. George’s Colts 2

At the St. John’s Field, the Dandy Town Hornets went in front when Damon Ming converted from the penalty spot, early in the second half Ayshaun Smith doubled the Dandy Town Hornets lead. St. George’s Colts got themselves back into the game with a goal from Jarazinho Bassett, minutes later the St. George’s Colts found themselves level when Dominique Lambert found the back of the net. Smith would settle the game with his second goal earning the Dandy Town Hornets a 3 – 2 win over the St. George’s Colts.

Hamilton Parish 1 North Village 0

At the Wellington Oval a first half goal from Ijahmon Mallory earned Hamilton Parish a 1-0 victory over the North Village Rams.
