Two Major Conferences Heading To Bermuda
A leading Bermuda law firm is helping to bring two major conferences to Bermuda this year attracting hundreds of delegates.
On June 4, Bermuda will host a one-day conference for members of the Caribbean offshore region of the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals [INSOL].
It will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and is expected to attract 120 delegates.
From April 22 to April 24, the Regulation, Operations and Compliance [ROC] – Bermuda 2015 Symposium will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Princess hotel.
Robin Mayor [pictured], a director and Head of Insolvency and Restructuring in the Bermuda office of Conyers Dill & Pearman, will be chairing the INSOL conference.
She said, “INSOL is a non-profit academic organisation that is involved in international insolvency and restructuring. It has about 10,000 members and hopefully the conference will attract delegates from both Europe and North America to discuss insolvency and restructuring issues.”
Conyers is one of the sponsors of ROC symposium, which is organised by the Regulatory Compliance Association.
According to the RCA website the symposium “will feature the largest collection of senior regulators detailing the latest tactics, developments and priorities”.
The website adds: “Moreover – the CCOs, GCs and the Practice Leaders of the industry’s most renowned firms will deliver practical and actionable guidance to: capitalize on new allocation opportunities; streamline reporting structures and processes; improve your compliance procedures, controls, testing and annual review; enhance your operational practices and use of administrators and develop a deep understanding of new enforcement developments and priorities.
“Additionally, CCOs from Top 100 Hedge Funds and Private Equity Firms shall provide exclusive insights regarding current or ongoing SEC Examinations, NFA Audits and other Regulatory Inspections.”
Speakers will include Premier Michael Dunkley, Finance Minister Bob Richards and Dr Grant Gibbons, Minister of Education and Economic Development, as well as SEC Commissioners Roel Campos and Paul Atkins.
Elizabeth Denman, a director in Conyers’ Bermuda corporate department, is also speaking, and said, “This conference attracts some of the top leaders in business. It a quite a coup for Bermuda as it will concentrate a lot of attention on the Island.”
And of course, there’s the Conference of Black Mayors on next month too. How are the hotel room sales going on that Donal?
