G&S Set To Present ‘The Met: Live In HD’
The Gillbert and Sullivan Society is getting set to present the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro – New Production on film on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] auditorium at 5.00pm.
The show will be presented in Italian, with English subtitles, with an approximate running time of 3 hours and 50 minutes. There will be a pre-performance and intermission cash bar, along with complimentary hors d’oeuvres at the interval.
A spokesperson said, “Met Music Director James Levine conducts a spirited new production of Mozart’s masterpiece, directed by Richard Eyre, who sets the action of this classic domestic comedy in an 18th-century manor house in Seville during the 1930s.”

Tickets are available for $35 each, or $30 for students or when purchased in a package of five. Tickets can be purchased online at gands.bm or ptix.bm or at the door with cash, cheque, or credit card.
The season will continue on subsequent Saturdays at 5.00pm, including 21 February – Carmen [Bizet]; 7 March – Il Barbiere di Siviglia [Rossini], 21 March – The Merry Widow [Lehár]; 18 April – Les Contes d’Hoffmann [Offenbach]; 2 May – Iolanta [Tchaikovsky] / Bluebeard’s Castle [Bartók]; 16 May – La Donna del Lago [Rossini]; and 30 May 2015 – Cavalleria Rusticana [Mascagni] / Pagliacci [Leoncavallo].
