Jessica Lewis Set To Compete In Australia
Paralympian Jessica Lewis is set to start her 2015 competitive year this weekend in Australia, with one race in Canberra and another in Sydney followed by a 10K which is also in Sydney.
Lewis has headed out from her base in Canada to make the 25 hour journey to Australia, and her training buddy Austin Pruitt will also be going to Australia to compete, as will her Coach Ken Thom.
Other races that Lewis is hoping to attend in 2015 include Desert Challenge in Arizona in May; the Swiss Nationals in May in Nottwil, Switzerland; the IPC Grand Nationals in Arbon, Switzerland in June; the Para Pan American Games in Toronto in August, and the Worlds in Doha, Qatar in October.
The qualification for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio begins this month, so Lewis is working to get in as many races as possible as she aims to represent the island in her second Paralympic Games.
Lewis, who attends Brock University in Canada, will be getting her new track chair in the next couple of weeks, and said she is truly grateful for the generosity of the staff at Tokio Millennium Re who have personally raised the money to buy it.
She is looking forward to ‘breaking it in’ and has extended her thanks Tokio Millennium Re for being her Title Sponsor again in 2015.
Good luck Jessica…we will both be routing for you!…You’ve got this, You’re awesome!..love Eric & Rhonda Lewis
