BHB To Dispose Of “Condemned Equipment”

February 16, 2015

The Bermuda Hospitals Board [BHB] said that it “will be disposing of condemned equipment in the coming weeks. Mindful of the need to cut costs, a thorough salvaging process was undertaken and wherever possible elements of machinery and pieces of equipment have been retained for replacement use in the future.”

A spokesperson said, “Broken hospital beds, ice machines, furniture and fixtures are among the items that will be discarded. They have been deemed unsafe and condemned by technicians and manufacturers. BHB will dispose of all its condemned items in accordance with Government’s waste disposal policies.

“It is also worth noting that following the move to the Acute Care Wing and the decommissioning of vacated areas in the General Wing of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, there are equipment and supplies that will be offered for sale to the public in the coming weeks. BHB will notify the public of the date and details of the sale in due course.”
