Bermuda’s February Social Media Rankings
[Written by Don Burgess] Who are the Klout elite? Anyone with a score with 63 or above is in the top 5% in the world. In Bermuda, there are 35 people or companies who have the ability to drive action with their tweets and posts and considered among the best social media influencers.
The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] had campaign for Restaurant Weeks that tapped into social influencers using the #BermudaRW hashtag on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It was a bold move to take advantage of how social media is affecting people’s lives.
Glenn Jones, director of public relations & stakeholder relations at the BTA, had a role in shaping that campaign. He also made this list for the first time, popping in with a score of 63.
Also making his first appearance is OBA MP Jefferson Sousa. Mr. Sousa cracked the top 10 with a score of 70, thanks in part to his campaign to save the Ag Show.
A third new entry is Bermuda booster Tony Brannon who has a score of 65. He led a valiant effort to help Horseshoe Bay Beach win an online contest run by USAToday to be the best beach in the Caribbean [Bermuda finished second behind Crane Bay in Barbados].
Otherwise, the top seven remain the same with John Layfield, Collie Buddz, Heather Nova, Shari-Lynn Pringle, Carla Zuill, Bermuda Tourism and Bernews holding down those spots.
Jamel Hardtman remains in the top 10 but new entries include: Columnist Chris Famous, Premier Michael Dunkley, Mr. Sousa and Forbes writer Clare O’Connor.
Klout attempts to quantify a person or business social media influence through a variety of platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, among others. The scores run from one to 100 with 40 being average.
