Person Extracted From Vehicle After Crash
[Updated] At approximately 3:07am this morning [Feb 28] the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic accident on the North Shore Road in Pembroke, near to the Tyne’s Bay Treatment Facility.
Fire Service spokesperson, Sergeant Russann Francis stated, “The Fire Service responded to a road traffic accident where a car was reported to have lost control”.
“The Fire Service responded to the incident with one vehicle and four personnel. On our arrival, the driver was found to be trapped in the vehicle; therefore, we were required to utilise the ‘Jaws of Life’ to remove them to safety.
“The injured person was immediately transported to the King Edward Memorial Hospital via ambulance.”
Update March 1, 7.53pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:05am on Saturday, February 28th first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Palmetto Road.
“It appears that a car being driven along North Shore Road collided with roadside barriers.
“Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel had to extricate the injured driver, believed to be a 24 year old Pembroke man, from the vehicle.
“He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment; however his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
“Inquiries regarding this collision are ongoing and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
Update March 2, 12.55pm: A police spokesperson said, “The 24 year old male driver injured in a reported single car collision that occurred around 3:05am Saturday, February 28th on North Shore Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Palmetto Road, has since been discharged from the hospital.”
“Inquiries regarding this collision continue and any witnesses should contact Constable Thomas Greenslade at the Hamilton Police Station on telephone number 247-1704.”
