Man Charged With Assaulting Wife 15 Years Ago

March 9, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Mar 9], a 56-year-old man was charged with assaulting his wife, which allegedly occurred 15 years ago.

Facing Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe, and explaining his failure to appear in Court in 2000, Kenneth Dyer told the Magistrate that he had been out of Bermuda.

The Magistrate then put the charge of unlawfully assaulting his wife and causing her actual bodily harm, in Sandys in March 2000. Mr Dyer pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate set bail at $2,000 with one surety, and required Mr Dyer to report to Hamilton Police Station three times a week, surrender his travel documents, and return for Mention on 23rd March.

On 23rd March, the Prosecution will ascertain whether or not the complainant still wants to press the complaint.

The Magistrate then advised Mr Dyer that Court records showed that he had a $200 fine that had been levied in 2000 and that was still unpaid.
