Premier Welcomes Bishop To Cabinet Office
Earlier today [Mar 3] the Premier,Michael Dunkley welcomed Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram, Bishop of the First Episcopal District to the Cabinet Office. Bishop Ingram is on Island for the 129th Session of the Bermuda Annual Conference at the Fairmont Southampton from March 5-8, 2015.

Joining Bishop Ingram at the Cabinet Office was Rev. Nicholas Tweed, Pastor St. Paul AME Church, Rev. Betty Woolridge, Presiding Elder of the AME Churches in Bermuda and Rev. Dr. Leonard Santucci, Pastor Vernon Temple and Rev. Terry Hassell, Pastor Heard Chapel.
Each year, the Bermuda Conference welcomes several hundred attendees from churches across the Island. And today the Premier acknowledged the important role that the AME Church has in Bermuda.
The Premier said, “The AME Church in Bermuda stands on the shoulders of a rich, local and connectional history. The legacy of Richard and Sarah Allen continues to light the path of those men and women called to ordained service and serves to inspire lay people also.
“The Government proudly counts the Church as a significant social partner and a community institution that has served the people of Bermuda well over many years. During these challenging times, the AME Church has extended itself in missionary work to feed the hungry and to care for the most vulnerable in our society.
“The Bermuda Annual Conference is fortunate to enjoy its place in the First Episcopal District and the outstanding Episcopal leadership provided by Bishop and Dr. Ingram. In welcoming them back to our shores, on behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda, it is my hope that this event is a spirit-filled and inspired Annual Conference.”
