2015 BSoA Bursary Award Criteria Announced

The Bermuda Society of Arts [BSoA] is getting set to present the 2015 Bursary Award, given annually to provide financial support in the amount of $5,000 to a Bermudian student who is in their second year of completing a post-secondary education in fine arts and/or design.

The criteria for this year’s Award has been announced, including application criteria and document requirements, all ahead of the June 1 application deadline.

To apply, applicants must:

  • Be over the age of 17 years
  • Be Bermudian
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate course in Fine Art and/or Design
  • Have achieved an overall academic standing of “B” or above in their present programme of study
  • Possess a strong character and show demonstrated ambition
  • Must have demonstrated involvement in local fine art exhibitions/activities

The document requirements include:

  • Completed & signed application form
  • Proof of Bermudian status
  • Photographic identification
  • Evidence of acceptance from an approved university or institution of higher learning with a copy of the syllabus of the course being taken
  • Statement indicating summary of expenses and details of any other award sought or offered
  • Applicant’s hand written submission stating career ambitions, involvement in local fine art exhibitions/activities and why he/she should receive the award
  • Portfolio of applicant’s artwork [6-12 items]. Artwork may be submitted digitally, on cd or by email [jpg or pdf] or on personal website.
  • Letter of reference from someone qualified to assess the applicant’s ability and performance in the arts

The deadline for applications is June 1, 2015.
