Cruise Diverts To Island, Two Sick Passengers
The Azores-bound cruise ship Ryndam diverted to Bermuda this week in order to have two passengers transferred to the hospital, with an 85 year old passenger suffering a suspected heart attack, while another passenger suffered a hand injury.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre is contacted by the local shipping agents Meyers. Meyers advise that the cruise ship Ryndam enroute from Tampa, Florida to Horta in the Azores intends to divert to Bermuda in order to have two passengers transferred to the hospital for medical treatment. One is an 85 year old man suffering a suspected heart attack, and the other is a 52 year old man with a hand injury.
“The vessel arrives at the Deep Draught Position to the East of St Georges at 5:30am on Thursday morning, where the two patients are transferred to the Pilot Boat St George, and taken to an awaiting ambulance at Ordnance Island for onward travel to KEMH. The cruise ship Ryndam continues on her voyage to Horta, Azores.”
