Aerial Video: Norwegian Dawn Stuck On Reef
The predicament that the Norwegian Dawn found itself in yesterday [May 19] as it become grounded in the North Channel during an attempt to depart Bermuda was captured from many angles, including from shore and even on-board the ship, but an aerial video offers perhaps the most unique view of the situation.
The vessel became stuck after leaving Dockyard on its regularly scheduled departure with a reported 2,675 passengers and 1,062 crew members aboard.
A Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson said, “On Tuesday, May 19th at approximately 5:00 pm ET, Norwegian Dawn had a temporary malfunction of its steering system, causing the ship to sail slightly off course as the ship was departing Bermuda, resulting in the vessel making contact with the sea bed.”

“All guests and crew are safe and there were absolutely no injuries.
Minister of Tourism Development and Transport Shawn Crockwell confirmed today [May 20] that the Norwegian Dawn sat alongside Kings Wharf to facilitate easy access for local divers, the Classification surveyor and the Norwegian Cruise Line technical team that arrived this morning.
Following that inspection, the ship successfully departed Bermuda as it made its second attempt to reach Boston.

Hardly stuck ON a reef. More like scuffed a curb in drivers terms.
150 ft long by 15 ft wide by 25 ft deep scar – hardly a scuff mark
Will it have to be taken out of service to repair? Maybe if safe they will delay the repair until they get a window for it.
but lets worry about an old stone wall instead…
Watch them call for better and more channel markers.
Bottom of Burnt house hill, they have not finished demolishing that wall yet,20 ft went recently…… Ha !
Don’t they have local pilots?
