Beacon Ceremony To Mark 60th VE Anniversary
On Saturday evening [May 9] a lighting of the Beacon Ceremony was held at Spanish Point Park to commemorates the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe [VE] Day. His Excellency the Governor George Fergusson, members of the Sea Cadets and Bermuda Regiment junior leaders programme and members of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service were present.
A tribute was read to remember those who served in various capacities during World War II.
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service said, “Although our role was strictly preventive measures and extinguishment of the ambers at the end of the ceremony, we were truly honored to be a part of it.”
