Photos/Video: CedarBridge’s Multicultural Day

May 24, 2015

CedarBridge Academy‘s staff and students recently celebrated their annual Multicultural Day, a tradition at CedarBridge Academy began in 2003, when Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Broadbelt, former staff members of CBA, introduced a celebration of the various cultures in Bermuda. What started as a day to dress in different cultures has evolved into a full day of celebration.

Students and staff arrived at school, many posing in the Birdcage, made by parent Kimberley Spring. After lunch, students and staff were treated to an assembly that opened with a video of pictures, maps and flags representing the 16 cultures of staff and students at the school.

The hosts of the assembly, Anthony and Rayann, entertained the audience with games, while the steel pan group played a few songs. This was followed up with a video interview of students and their ancestral countries, and the Town Crier paid a visit and opened the events.

The judges, Robert Horton, former educator, Charmaine Friday, artist, educator and parent, Michelle Fray- Morton, designer and former CBA Teacher, Tai Ratteray, designer and former CBA student, and Alisha Philips, former Miss Talent Teen and trainer for many of the Miss Teen Bermuda contestants, were introduced before the fashion show began.

Over 30 students participated in the fashion show. Students were judged on style and presentation. Winners received gift certificates, food vouchers and Digicel cards. To close out the show, the Titanium dancers performed a few numbers.
