Man Injured In Jet Ski Accident By Hawkins Island
[Updated] A man was hospitalized this evening [June 16] after being involved in a marine incident.
Bermuda Marine Police assisted the injured man and transported him to Barr’s Bay Park where he was transferred to an attending ambulance and taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. Details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update #1: A BMOC spokesperson said, “A jet ski accident was reported to RCC Bermuda after a party in a tour lost control of their vehicle. Bermuda Radio assisted by coordinating attendance of the Marine Police in ‘Paradise Lakes’ near Hawkin’s Island.
“The tour leader sustained a serious leg injury when the out of control jetski collided with the lead ski. The Marine Police landed the injured man at Barr’s Bay to an Ambulance for hospital treatment.”
Update #2: A police spokesperson said, “Around 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 16th Marine Police officers were dispatched to a reported collision between two Jet Skis in the waters near Hawkins Island.
“It appears that both Jet Skis involved were part of a tour and the collision occurred between the local male tour leader – who was injured – and a local male member of the tour group, who was apparently not injured.
“The victim, believed to be a 19 year old Southampton man, was taken ashore for hospital treatment of a laceration to his right leg and later discharged.”
