Power Restored After Weather Related Outage
Approximately 800 customers in the Fractious Street area lost power this morning [June 6] following a weather related power outage.
A BELCO spokesperson said, “This morning, during stormy weather, an outage occurred at 9:07am, affecting approximately 800 customers in the Fractious Street area. Power was restored to those customers at 11:20am.”
“BELCO wishes to remind customers to call 955 to report power outages, so that the information is accurately recorded in our outage management system.
“BELCO system operators have information about outages on main circuits, but may be unaware of individual outages or small branch line outages until you phone 955 with a report.”
The Bermuda Weather Service issued a Thunderstorm Advisory valid from early this morning until this evening, with their forecast for today saying, “Conditions will gradually begin to improve this afternoon as continuous rainfall becomes more showery with a few breaks of sunshine. Some localized areas may experience flooding and isolated thunderstorm activity remains possible into the evening.”
stormy weather being rain. rain and a very light breeze.
The outage went as far as Crawl Hill because that’s where I am and my power went out-TWICE. It went out at 9:07 and came back on around 10:50 and then went out again around 11:40. I know these things happen but it was annoying. The last time Belco said they needed money to improve infrastructure, we had outages left, right and center and now again? If I was a conspiracy theorist I’d be saying “Hmmm…”
Good grief now it is the rain that effects Belco or is this a plot to punish us for not accepting further raising of our Belco bills?
What stormy weather did we have ? it was all about some much needed rain….. B.E.L.C.O needs some serious completion…
Stormy weather? HaaHaaHaaHaaHaaHaa!!! Hilarious.. must have been those 3 Tornadoes.. Belco you’re hilarious..
You guys remember those 2 hurricanes last year? Well it left the distribution infrastructure rather weak in spots. Of course it’s an inconvenience but I take my hat off to the men and women in those green trucks and up those poles as they do a hell of a good job. Now the ones wearing ties and sitting in offices and asking us to pay more of an already overly inflated price for power my opinion is not as nice.
Hmmmm. And I bet you will be seeing more of this until Belco get their way
We already have very high electrical cost. It is a joke to say we want to increase tourism when we have these very high fixed cost for residents and businesses. I will pay the higher cost for electricity.
