Video: Oracle Team USA’s Bermuda Base
Serving to house the team even while providing them with the amenities needed to succeed in stiff competition, the Oracle Team USA base come together quickly following the announcement that Bermuda would be hosting the 2017 America’s Cup, with a newly released video helping to explain the importance of the team’s home away from home.
Team member Ian Stuart said, “It all sort of evolves as the schedule of the event evolves; right now it’s project management of the base built here in Bermuda.
“I’d be lying if I said it was easy, but I must say, in terms of event facilitation and the local assistance, contracters, engineers – it’s actually been really pleasurable and probably one of the best facilitated events we’ve been to.
“This all had been in a really short time frame, so the priority was to arrive in Bermuda, get set up so we could sail on May 1 and try to put in place the basics to facilitate that.”
Oracle Team’s Ian Stuart discusses the team’s Bermuda base:
“Over the next week, two weeks, we’ll be set up properly. The designers will have proper offices, the sailing team will have the gym up and running.
“As of today, we’ll have the team eating/dining facility, so it’s all coming online and it can’t happen fast enough. And in two weeks time we should have transitioned from a construction site to a nice really well-functioning team.
“But from an event sailing life, Bermuda is great. I haven’t had any free time, but I’m looking forward to that – it should be good.
“I don’t think it’s going to be hard to enjoy it; when we look at the water and the life around boats and sailing – everything we love.”
We love you Team Oracle. Where can we get some of your logo flags? We lot like flying flags on our boats. Your boat sweets me bye!,
Awesome! Glad to have the team here and wish you every success.
