Women’s Rugby Team To Compete In Canada

July 1, 2015

The Bermuda Women’s Rugby team will be competing in the 44th Annual Stampede 7’s tournament in Calgary, Alberta on the 3rd and 4th July.

The tournament is one of the most prestigious 7’s tournaments in Canada and will provide the women’s team with the vital competitive matches they need if they are to continue to develop.

The squad, competing as the Dark and Stormys, has entered the top division, Women’s Premier, as they are keen to test themselves against the best sides in North America.

Head Coach, Andy Crichton, stated, “This tournament has become the focus of our season. The players are more experienced, fitter and stronger than ever having trained four times a week for the last six months.

“Success will be measured by translating all that effort into strong on-field performances showcasing their high-tempo and expansive style of play.”

With Jessica Cassidy [broken leg] and Erica MacArthur [pregnancy] unavailable, US Eagles Megan Sanders and Anne Peterson have been brought into the squad through Bermuda’s partnership with Avatus [Serevi Rugby].

The squad consists of Mika Tomita [Captain], Kelli Nusum [Vice-Captain], Amanda Swan, Juliette Ferrari-McComb, Corrie Cross, Gillian Cross, Gemma Godfrey, Karly Alleyne, Deneka Borden, Megan Sanders and Anne Peterson.

The squad said they would like to thank Gosling’s and CrossFit BDA for all their support.
