Parks Department Advisory: Horseshoe Bay
In advance of the upcoming Cup Match holiday, the Department of Parks issued an advisory pertaining to the use of Horseshoe Bay Beach. It follows in full below.
The Department of Parks’ Park Service would like to advise the public of the following, as it relates to Horseshoe Bay Beach on Thursday July 30th 2015.
Horseshoe Bay Closure
On Thursday July 30th 2015, at 7:00 pm clean up of Horseshoe Bay is scheduled to commence in preparation for the following day. We ask all patrons to kindly exit the park at this time so that the work may be carried out.
Parking
- i] From 6:00 pm on Wednesday July 29th 2015 to 9:00 pm, Thursday July 30th 2015 parking and traffic flow of cars, vans, trucks, mini buses and taxis Horseshoe Bay car park will be strictly controlled by the Bermuda Police Service and the Department of Parks. Priority will be given to emergency vehicles and Department of Parks vehicles.
- ii] There will be absolutely no parking allowed on the sidewalk leading down the hill. [Vehicles found parking on the sidewalk will be ticketed by Police]
- iii] Parking of motorcycles will be permitted at Horseshoe Bay Car Park. Once full, no bikes will be allowed to park at the bottom of the hill.
- iv] The Department of Parks will be responsible for ensuring that barriers and a member of our department is in position at the entrance of Horseshoe Bay Beach Road.
One Way System – Horseshoe Bay Beach Road
- i] On Thursday July 30th 2015, between 6:30 am and 8:30 pm, Horseshoe Bay Beach Road will operate as a one-way traffic system. Exit will be through the Southampton Princess gate.
- ii] Four wheel vehicles will be allowed down the hill for drop offs and pick-ups only.
- iii] The one way system will be used to facilitate taxis and mini buses to drop off and collect passengers from the beach.
- iv] Once taxi and minibus spots are full no other vehicles will be given access except to drop off patrons.

Its nice that you ask people to clear off the beach at 7:00PM. But is that really possible to be do? There will be plenty of people who would like a dunk around that time of the day.
They used to do it at the crack of dawn.
Not a bad idea after being down there last year and seeing the chaos and fights that started at the end of the night I completely understand why they’re shutting the beach early and while its light.
