BFRS Extinguish Fire At St David’s Residence
At 1:46 pm today [July 28] the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service [BFRS] responded to a report of a fire on Cocoa Lane in St. David’s.
Fire Service spokesperson Acting Lieutenant Jamal Albuoy said, “BFRS responded to a confirmed fire with two appliances from our Clearwater Station, one appliance from our Hamilton Station and a total of eight personnel.
“On arrival, smoke was seen emitting from the lower unit of a two storey dwelling. Firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus manned with a fire hoseline entered the unit and quickly brought the fire under control. At 2:17 pm the fire was fully extinguished.
“The fire was contained to the immediate kitchen area. Nonetheless, the aforementioned did sustain some heat and smoke damage, whilst the remainder of the unit sustained only smoke damage.
“A single [male] occupant was removed from the premise prior our arrival without injury. One our Fire Investigation Officers attended the incident to determine the cause of the fire”.
