‘STEPS To A Well Bermuda’ Tobacco Fact Sheet

July 17, 2015

The Ministry of Health, Seniors and Environment released the STEPS to a Well Bermuda Tobacco Fact Sheet highlighting tobacco use in Bermuda.

Last week, Minister of Health, Seniors and Environment, Jeanne Atherden announced the release of the STEPS Fact Sheet to be followed by a series of Fact Sheets on health related issues such as tobacco use, alcohol consumption, diet and physical activity levels.

“The goal of releasing the Fact Sheets is to halt the escalation of chronic Non Communicable Diseases and improve the island’s general health and wellbeing,” the Minister said. “I encourage members of the public to go to the Government website, health.gov.bm to review the Fact Sheets as they will each address health issues that we must confront as a community.”

“The STEPS to a Well Bermuda Fact Sheets will allow for an overview of each of the chronic disease risk factors addressed in the STEPS to a Well Bermuda survey so that the vast amount of data can be gradually presented to the community and discussed in turn within the various community sectors.

“The aim is for the survey data to inform our conversations, guide our actions and influence our policies so that Bermudians can move forward as a community to prevent and control chronic diseases on the island.”
