80-Year-Old Injured In Collision In Shelly Bay

[Updated with video + statement] As of 10.30am this morning [Aug 22] emergency personnel are on scene following a collision in the Shelly Bay area, in which one person has been injured. Both the Police and Fire Service are present, and it appears that a woman was been transported to hospital for medical treatment.

This is at least the third collision this morning, following after the incident at around 4.00am which saw four firefighters struck in a secondary collision while attending to the original collision on Harrington Sound Road.

Update 1.44pm: Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “At around 9:35am first responders attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motor car that occurred on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, near the entrance of the Shelly Bay Beach House [playground area].

“It appears that the driver lost control of her car resulting in vehicle going over the small embankment outside of the said location. The female driver, an 80 year old woman who was conscious and breathing, but had to be extracted from the car and taken to the hospital where she is being treated for her injuries that do not appear life threatening.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen this collision to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 2950011.”
