Southampton Rangers, St. David’s Cricket Club, Bailey’s Bay, Western Stars and St. George’s Cricket Club all recorded victories in this weekend’s First and Premier Division cricket action.
Premier Division
Southampton Rangers Win by 1 Wicket: Somerset Cricket Club 232/8 Southampton Rangers 233/9
At the Somerset Cricket Club, the home team batted first and scored 232/8, Jordan DeSilva was the top scorer with 70 not out, while Marcus Johnson added 51. Derrick Brangman was the pick of the Southampton Rangers bowlers with figures of 10-2-37-4.
In reply Southampton Rangers scored 233/9 in 50 overs with the final run coming off the final delivery. Janeiro Tucker and Alex Dore shared a 120 run partnership to steer the league Leaders toward to win, Tucker was the top scorer with 78, while Dore scored 62. DeSilva returned bowling figures of 8-1-21-2 for the Somerset Cricket Club, while Justin Donawa bowled 10-1-42-2.
St. David’s Cricket Club Win by 69 Runs: St. David’s Cricket Club 214 Willow Cuts 145
At Lord’s in St. David’s, visitors Willow Cuts won the toss and sent the home team St. David’s Cricket Club to bat, they were bowled out for 214, Rudell Pitcher was the top scorer with 90, while Kevon Fubler returned bowling figures of 10-0-28-3 for Willow Cuts.
In reply Willow Cuts were bowled out for 145, Dean Stephens was the top scorer with 39, while George O’Brien Jr. returned bowling figures of 4.4-2-5-5.
Bailey’s Bay Win by 10 Wickets: Flatt’s Victoria 56 Bailey’s Bay 57/0
A day after going down in defeat in their Eastern County Cup match, Flatt’s Victoria traveled to another Eastern County rival Bailey’s Bay and were bowled out for 56 in 20.2 overs. Logan Phillips batting at number 8 was the top scorer with 17, while 9 and 10 batsmen Dornielle Farrell and Paul Carr both scored 10 runs each. Flatt’s at one point were 13/7. Kyle Hodsoll continued his good season with the ball returning figures of 7-2-11-5 to lead Bailey’s Bay in the bowling department, Zeiko Burgess bowled 6-2-11-2 and Malachi Jones bowled 4-0-14-2.
In reply Terryn Fray scored 35 not out and captain Rodney Trott scored 17 not out as they crossed the score after 5.5 overs. Fray scored his runs off 20 deliveries in 31 minutes hitting 5 fours, while Trott hit 4 fours in his 31 minute stay at the crease facing 16 balls.
First Division
Western Stars Win by 12 Runs: Western Stars 154 Devonshire Recreation Club 142
At the St. John’s Field, the top two teams in the Division attracted two top umpires and written press, Devonshire Recreation Club won the toss and sent Western Stars to bat they were bowled out for 154 in 43.1 overs, Temiko Wilson was the top scorer with 52, while captain Brian Hall added 33. Phillip Thomas led the Devonshire Recreation Club bowlers with figures of 10-1-31-4, while Wilbur Burt bowled 7-2-16-2.
In reply the Devonshire Recreation Club were bowled out for 142 in 43.3 overs, Dennis Williams was the top scorer with 34, while Lavar Talbot added 22, Makai Young returned figures of 10-1-39-4 to lead Western Stars to victory, while Rohaan Davis bowled 6-1-12-3.
St. George’s Cricket Club Win by Forfeit: Warwick Workmen’s Club 0/0 St. George’s Cricket Club 0/0
At the Southampton Oval, Warwick Workmen’s Club forfeited their home game against the St. George’s Cricket Club.
