Trio Charged: Possessing Cocaine & Cannabis

Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Sept 2], three defendants faced charges of possessing cocaine and cannabis intended for supply.

40-year-old Sandys residents Daymon Simmons and 37-year-old Erica Young were not required to enter pleas because the charges that they faced were all deemed to be indictable and can only be tried in the Supreme Court.

The pair were charged with being in an increased penalty zone in Sandys Parish and on 27th August 2014 possessing cocaine, cannabis and cannabis resin that was intended for supply, possessing a grinder that was fitted for use with the illegal substances and being persons responsible for premises, allowing the use of controlled drugs on those premises.

In addition, and relating to a different location than in the first set of charges, Daymon Simmons and 32-year-old Sabian Hayward were charged with that on 27th August 2014, in Sandys Parish, they possessed cocaine and cannabis resin that was intended for supply.

The Magistrate granted all the defendants $25,000 bail, required each to provide a surety in a like amount; and each to surrender his travel documents.

All three accused, Simmons, Hayward, and Young must re-appear for Mention on 16th September 2015.
