Blue Bag Recycling Unit Undergoing Repairs

September 3, 2015

The Ministry of Public Works said they wish to advise the public that the TAG blue bag recycling separation and bailing unit at the Material Recovery Facility [MRF] is currently non-operational and will be undergoing repairs.

“Replacement parts should arrive on the island in two weeks and it is anticipated that repairs will take approximately one week to complete,” the Ministry said.

“In the interim, due to space constraints at the MRF, blue bags will be taken to the old recycling facility at Devon Springs where they will be stored while repairs are undertaken.

“Recycling haulers have been informed of the change and we do not anticipate any inconvenience to the public or change in recycling collection during this period.

“Once the MRF unit is operational, bags will be moved to the MRF for processing and delivery to the MRF will once again resume.

“Recycling will continue to be collected per the 2015 Garbage and Recycling Schedule which is mailed out to each household annually, available on the web at www.wastemanagement.gov.bm or can be found in the BTC phone book blue pages.

“Email recycle@gov.bm for any questions regarding Bermuda’s recycling programme.”
