Man Admits Stealing Food, Coffee & Tobacco

October 20, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Oct 20], a 39-year-old man pleaded guilty to stealing Samson tobacco, a coffee and cooked food from the Marketplace Store.

The total value of all the items was $14.04.

After police had responded to the shop staff’s call and were questioning Knori Walker, he admitted the offences and told police: “I have no job. I have no money. I was hungry.”

Duty Counsel told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Mr Walker, who had no fixed address, had recently fallen on hard times and was struggling to survive as well as find a permanent address.

The Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report and set sentencing for late November, and released him on $1,000 bail.
