Premier Welcomes Maxi Priest To Cabinet Office
Getting into the excitement of this weekend’s Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Race events, Premier Michael Dunkley welcomed reggae artist Maxi Priest to the Cabinet Office earlier today [Oct 15].
Maxi Priest and Reggae artist Shaggy are the featured performers Saturday night at the America’s Cup Jam.
While at the Cabinet Office today, Premier Dunkley presented Maxi with a letter of appreciation, in which he thanked the musical artist for sharing his “music with a message”.
The Premier’s letter added, “Maxi, you are no stranger to our Island, having visited us many times previously. You have deep connections to Bermuda and we truly consider you a member of our community.
“You have brought incredible joy to so many people around the world with your music… and my family and I and all of Bermuda are really looking forward to your performance.”
In turn Maxi Priest extended his heartfelt thanks to Bermuda for its support of him through his musical journey and took the opportunity to note that he intends to provide the concert goers on Saturday night with an “unforgettable experience”.
Highlighting the America’s Cup events, Premier Dunkley noted that Bermuda is full of “excitement and buzz” this week, pointing out that the sport of sailing as well as the America’s Cup has evolved over the years and that Bermuda is pleased to be a part of the continuing evolution.

can’t wait till this is over
Should you be on strike, or a work to rule or something?
Yes Maxi Priest!
Make a dedication to all of Bermuda!
Welcome back sir!
Would be interesting to hear his views on how this Government is treating the people, but he’s here to entertain and get paid but it was worth a try.
How will Maxi’s views and input of Government impact anything here in Bermuda. Like he really has any sort of pull like that with the Government or the people. You make me laugh Onion Juice…
Are you serious !
It’s a wild world fer sure.
Ooh baby baby its a wide world .
‘Wild World’
Well it could be if we all took our blinders off.
extremely serious unlike you nasayers and haters
Who are your enemy, just a talk bout Frienenemy.
Lyrics from Maxi Priest song “Frienenemy” a provocative song about Greed and Deception which is fitting for this Government but he should avoid songs like that or he might get banned, so it would be wise that he sticks to the girlie, girlie songs.
Thanks Onion Juice. I can think of 14 years that this song could have been our anthem!
Wow 14? I can think of 400yrs.
Dont act like u wont be there partyin like everyone else. Lol. Flip flop
Serious about what.
Rasta in the house. Now free the ganja
No free up Gay Marriage and win my vote OBA. Forget the church vote.
Rasta don’t business dem tings.
Now now…prime example of selfishness you said “NO” to freeing up the herb but yet you want them to free up the “GAY”agenda and you’re even bargaining with a vote…nasty by nature.
This man needs to get on with running the country and lay off the photo ops – seriously, it’s getting ridiculous.
‘mixitup’ has it all mixed up. What is getting ridiculous is that if the Leader of our last PLP Government, or the present Leader of the Opposition Party had welcomed Maxi Priest to Bermuda this week, he or she would have been praised for acknowledging a popular international entertainer who is here for a major event.
@ Common Sense, let them vent. We’ve got to the point where it was a free for all attack on Dr. Brown and PLP and now these Dreamers are in we should just shut up an act like Johnny Barns !!!!!!!!
PLEASE
Oh relax. It’s just a photo. Chill out. He;s running the country – it’s not like this meeting went on for a week.
He needs to fire his political consultant fast. Way to many photos Mike! Take photos with the next rich man who’s going to build a fabulous hotel in Bermuda.
Photo opp #1,854.
oh Please!!! Why don’t you do a Google search and see how many photo opportunities Ewart Brown took. Just to name a few…Beyoncé, Quincy Jones, Alicia Keys, Michael Douglas, the list goes on and on.
You should be asking that question to the union leader
Good to see . Maxi is a great guy
Relax Bermuda everyone enjoy what will be going on in our Island soon.
How can we relax when this Government is treating the poor people like S!@#.
What the BLEEP do you want? A gigantic opportunity is laid out at your feet we can all benefit if we want but we need to get up and go get it. Your government can only do so much with so little. I bet you that this thing has already generated more income for Bermuda $ for $ than any of the dumbass PLP initiatives such as the music festival, faith based tourism, PGA etc. And this is a very long term thing providing sustained income and opportunity.
If you want a free hand out it doesn’t exist sorry to burst your bubble but they lied to you. You drank the juice and you are now a minion. There is light though just open your eyes and you will see again.
Please give an example on how the Poor are being treated this way!
Really, aren’t the poor on Social Assistance, which some of them take advantage of? Maybe you’re one of them.
Are you kidding? You must be on the payroll. Chip away, chip away. What does the union do for “the poor”? After 40 years of collecting dues (no) having dues direct deposited to their account the Union shows no RESPECT to the workers! When will the PEOPLE know how their dues are being managed or should we say MISMANAGED.
I think the union needs to come clean with the workers.
Stand up!
Rasta rules the earth!
Premier Dunkley – you ROCK!
Ya, a rock in the ocean.
Onion Juice do you have that special ingredient in your juice as some others have in their TEA?
This is a pretty extreme functionality that Dr. Brown spoke of . This artist , who has come to Bermuda from 1986 has NEVER been recognized by the UBP/OBA , but because …..
Failing to see ur point mate. Is there one?
Can you list the times when he was ‘recognized’ by the PLP? Were they ‘photo ops’ as well?
What does that mean and when did Dr. Brown say it?
And who is Dr. Brown?
WHAT WOULD THE NAY SAYERS BE SAYING IF
1) THIS EVENT DIDN’T HAPPEN?
2) AND BERMUDA WAS DEAD?
I QUESS THEY WOULD COMPLAIN THAT IS NOT RAINING OR IT IS RAINING.
THEY ALL WANT THIS EVENT TO FAIL, BUT THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!!
AND FURTHER MORE WHAT SOLUTIONS DO THEY HAVE TO GET BERMUDA BACK ON TRACK?
I WILL WAIT FOR YOUR IDEAS!
Well sir there is always Faith Based Tourism and we could plough money into a golf course that would attract some semi pro guys on a Wednesday evening. We could build bigger schools but spend little on the concept of education. We could take pity on some uigars and Holiday in Martha’s Vineyard.
If the LEADER of our Country didn’t meet Maxi he would be called all sorts…he meets Maxi and ppl still talk smack. Premier Dunkley continue doing what you’re doing. I’ve never seen a Premier who connects with so many people from different backgrounds & nationalities. Big up Premier Dunkley and Maxi Priest!
What a idiot! You never heard about JOHN SWAN! Only Premier to ever win the People’s VOTE!!!!
TGIF………………..
so are there any Bermudians that sing reggae or any music for that fact. Always got to be foreigners who entertain us. Do our homegrown artist have any value or meaning? smh!!
We’ve been through all that. Find something else to whine about.
