Males With Firearm “Forcefully” Enter Residence

A burglary took place in Smiths at 1:05am this morning [Oct 15] in which three males “forcefully entered the residence and brandished what is believed to be a firearm”, stealing a number of items before escaping.

The police said they “do not believe this was a random attack as early indicators suggest there may have been a preexisting relationship with one of the victims and the suspects.”

A police spokesperson said, “Bermuda Police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary that took place on Mount Hope Lane in Smiths at 1:05 this morning [Thursday].

“It appears that 3 males forcefully entered the residence and brandished what is believed to be a firearm. The suspects stole a quantity of jewelry, a cellphone and a 40 inch television and then made good their escape.

“Police do not believe this was a random attack as early indicators suggest there may have been a preexisting relationship with one of the victims and the suspects.

“A full investigation into this matter has commenced and police are looking to speak with anyone who may have any information about this incident. Police are asking you to call CID on 2950011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800 8477.

“It should be noted this matter is not connected to the previous confrontational burglaries for which we have a suspect presently in police custody.”

    You’d think the cops would understand from your quotation marks that perhaps forcefully is not the right word. Forcibly is what they’re straining for (just not hard enough!)

    It is a joke the avg citizen does not have the choice to arm themselves. This is what happens, laws only apply to law abiding citizens. So you have left the population defenseless against the criminals.

    Now a gun may not have mattered in this scenario, but the point is criminals have no deterrent what so ever knowing they are going into these situations with the upper hand.
