October 30, 2015

With the 2017 America’s Cup looming, Oracle Team USA is seeking a competitive advantage in the quest to capture a third consecutive title, using hard data to design and build the fastest boat, and to improve performance.

Through the Oracle database, the team able to reference more than 240 GB of data collected each day. This information is monitored real-time on the water, and is stored, processed and analyzed with the ultimate goal of winning.

Skipper Jimmy Spithill said, “The data collection and what we do with it is one of the most important things in this game.

“Over the next two years, we’re going to use that process to make the boat go faster, help the sailors make better decisions, and ultimately, that will make the difference.”
