Court: Chesterfield Johnson Pleads Guilty

November 29, 2015

After missing an earlier trial date, Chesterfield Johnson was arrested and produced in Magistrates Court on Friday [Nov 27] where he changed his earlier plea of not guilty to guilty.

The 63-year-old admitted to Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that in June 2014 he had obstructed police and was in possession of a pipe that was fitted for use with illegal drugs.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that police stopped Johnson who ran away shortly after being stopped. Police caught him and found a makeshift pipe in his possession. On police analysis, the pipe had traces of cocaine.

The Magistrate reviewed Court records and told Johnson that he had over $1,000 in unpaid fines.

The Magistrate ordered Social Inquiry and BARC reports, set sentencing for January 2016, ordered that Johnson attend Drug Treatment Court, and ordered that Mr Johnson serve 49 days, in default for non-payment of outstanding fines.
