Team Oracle Will “Take On” Artemis In Boxing
At the boxing event held at the Fairmont Southampton, Oracle Team USA skipper Jimmy Spithill, a boxing fan who attended to watch the bouts, alluded to the possibility of a boxing match between America’s Cup sailing teams in the future.
Answering questions from the announcer, Mr. Spithill said, “We love Bermuda, we are very thankful to be here. We brought all of our team out tonight; we’re here supporting the locals and all the boxers and it’s really a great atmosphere, we really enjoy it.”
“We’re big boxing fans ourselves and we’re trying a little bit of it at our gym at Dockyard, so it’s good to watch these guys and learn something from them,” added Mr Spithill.
Prompted by the announcer, who said, “You’re good at sea – let’s see how good you are in the ring,” and asked if Oracle would be willing to get in the ring for a boxing match against members of Team Artemis, Mr. Spithill replied that his team could “take it on.”
