Retail Sales Increase By 3.5% In October
The total retail sales index was 3.5% higher than the level reached in October 2014, and after adjusting for the annual retail sales rate of inflation, measured at 0.3% in October, the volume of retail sales increased 3.2%.
This is according to the latest retail sales index, which said that Motor vehicle retailers and food stores also registered increases while all other sectors recorded declines in sales.

“During October 2015, retail sales of motor vehicles increased 30.2% year-over-year. The increase in sales was due to a 32.7% rise in the number of vehicles sold which included greater demand for commercial vehicles,” the report said.
“The sales value of food stores increased 2.9% during October 2015 and 0.3% in volume terms. In contrast, sales revenue for liquor stores decreased 0.9% and 1.9% in volume terms.”
