Photos: Danish Swim Team Arrive In Bermuda
The Danish National Swim Team is currently in Bermuda for training as they prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, with eight of the country’s top swimmers attending.
Premier Michael Dunkley, Minister of Community, Culture & Sports Patricia Gordon Pamplin, and Bermuda Tourism Authority Chief Product & Experience Officer Pat Phillip-Fairn were all on hand at the National Sports Center Pool to greet the team and coaching staff as they got their 15 day training camp underway.
A Swim Swam report said, “Eight of the top Danish swimmers including Lotte Friis, Mie Ø Nielsen, Rikke Moller Pedersen, Viktor Bromer, Pal Joensen, Mads Glaesner, Daniel Skanning and Magnus Westermann will be spending the next 15 days training in Bermuda.”
.
“Bermuda was chosen as the destination for the camp for two main reasons; the climate and the time zone. The temperature and humidity in Bermuda in January will be similar to that in Rio in August and the time zones are also relatively similar with Bermuda being two hours behind Rio.”
“As I see it, it is an exercise that we are doing in training camp to see how easy we are changing our circadian rhythm, and how long it takes before we can perform optimally,” says Bromer.
“Swimmers must be trained to be able to perform optimally at times other than what they are used to. That may well turn out to be a challenge,” explains Nielsen.

Premier Photo Op #ummmmmm – - crap, I’ve lost count?!!
would like to see more foreign national teams come to here and use our resources and environment. hopefully we can learn from their successes.
Welcome to Bermuda! All the best in Rio.
Photo Op Premier,
Not just for the Prem – helped the BTA pump its chest out as well, but not sure this was all down to them …
Anyone seen or hear d from Fahy lately?
Maybe this is an opportunity to use Sands360 as well since the pool is indoors!
Not 50m, so doesn’t help them. They want to also simulate Rio conditions, so has to be an outdoor venue.
Simulate Rio? Way too cold for that. They have warmer indoor pools back home! Very odd.
You know why the BTA is there. They are void of any ideas.
I guess it’s time again to pay themselves their annual bonuses.
WOW, we showed up for the photo op, get the check book out!
