Bermuda Poultry Fanciers Show This Weekend

February 15, 2016

The Bermuda Poultry Fanciers Society’s Annual Poultry Show will take place this weekend [February 19 -21] at the Jack King Building in the Botanical Gardens. The Show will formally open at 10am on Friday [Feb 19] and continue on over the weekend.

“The Jack King Building will be filled to the brim with lots of poultry pleasures- a large variety of breeds some of which are very new to the Island,” a spokesperson said.

“We have large fowl such as Australorps, Plymouth Rocks, Jersey Giants, Cochins, Scot Greys and Spanish Game to name a few as well as many breeds of bantams [smaller chickens] such as Old English Game, Modern Game, Cochins, D’Anvers, Japanese and Wyandottes.

“But it isn’t all just about the cockadoodle doo – the show is open to many other fine critters such as turkeys, rabbits, pigeons, ducks and even quail.

“All of the animals will be competing for various awards. Two overseas judges will be attending to judge the poultry and we have been fortunate to find two local judges for the rabbits and pigeons as well.

“This event is for everyone and it is free of charge. Please come out and enjoy viewing our exhibits and talking to the exhibitors who will be happy to answer any questions and show off their treasures.”
