Erica Rance Mill Appointed RSC Chairperson
The Minister of Tourism Development & Transport Shawn Crockwell advised that Mrs. Erica Rance Mill has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Bermuda Road Safety Council [RSC].
The other new appointees are Insurance Executive, Wayne R. Swan, and Compliance Specialist Nekeisha Cameron who join existing members Dennis Lister Jr., Roger Kendall and Alexis Swan.
The new RSC Chairperson stated: “I am delighted to participate in public service. I’ve been active in the community for many years and this is just another opportunity to serve my island home and make a difference.
“All Bermudians should be concerned about the issue of road safety. I would like to create a road safety movement, by implementing cross generational strategies which involve all road users. It is imperative that we get people thinking about how to make the roads safer through their own behaviour.”
Mrs. Rance Mill takes over as Council Chairperson from Dr Carlton Crockwell.
Minister Crockwell said, “I wish to thank Carlton for his five years of service on the Road Safety Council, in which the last three he served as Chairman.
“Service to the community is one of the greatest contributions we can make to our island home. And all of those who step forward to give their time, energy and ideas in these important endeavours must be commended for their efforts.”
The new Chairperson was until recently a part of the Road Safety Working Group established through the Ministry.
She explained, “The working group eventually determined that CADA and The Road Safety Council, which work in conjunction with the Bermuda Police Service and its excellent Road Safety Strategy, was already covering a lot of the ground on which we were focused.
“As the key stakeholders, they were already actively involved so it made far greater sense to disband and continue our efforts under the umbrella of the Road Safety Council with close consultation with the Police and CADA.”
Minister Crockwell said, “We welcome Erica to this challenging position and I’m happy to report that she shares our view that road safety is an extremely important local issue. I look forward to the energy she brings to the Road Safety Council.
“We must be thankful for those Council members, past and present, for their service. They consist of community minded individuals who are eager and willing to support the country in road safety initiatives.
Mrs. Rance Mill is a specialty reinsurance underwriter with Markel Re.
Congrats on your appointment!
Good Luck.
Please , please look at removing the stupid massive speed bumps in Flatts and Harrington Sound Road. THe blend into the road and do not stand out and are a danger to anyone that does not frequent the area. I have personally seen a teenage girl wipe out after being surprised by the bump in Flatts (she was not speeding) and I’ve also seen a Tourist (he was not speeding)and passenger on a rental bike wipe out after hitting the one just before Devils Hole.
I also know of someone that had neck injuries after the van they were in hit the speed bump at night which caused her to hit the cabin ceiling. Last but not least was the Firtruck that hit the bump across from Harrington Sound School.
There is nothing safe about a speed bump on the main road, especially one that you can hardly see. Bad idea! Please fix.

Good grief – it took them a year to realise this? In the meantime, not one recommendation. Mmmm.
Great new congratulation. Lets start with the parking on the corner outside T&L store in Spanish point.
Good luck to the new appointees and hope that they can push through tangible and meaningful methods to tackle the state of driving in Bermuda.
I wonder if they will see merit in mandating drunk drivers being made to take courses, for too long too many have gotten off with time off the road, large fines etc etc, until the next conviction. And then some ended up being responsible for the death of other road users. Surely it is time for this group to do more than putting CADA sign around Bermuda espcially before Cup Match and Christmas and New Year.
Great news an amazing person appointed to a great position. Wish her and the whole team the best of luck i am sure she has some great ideas to help make the roads safer
Can we start with the conditions of the roads please?
In the uk they drive on the left of the road , in Bermuda we drive on what’s left of the road !
Fantastic on your appointment Erica …..If you need any advice on road alignments, lines of visual sight (per the road traffic Act) as well as anything regarding our topography on Bermuda’s roads…..don’t hesitate to contact me.
We need to make our thoroughfares more safer and if I can help with my knowledge of surveying these roads, byways and to a lesser extent “highways”……over the last 20+ years….hit me up.
We need to lessen the amount of tragic accidents that seem to be taking our populace by an alarming rate. Well done to the people that have appointed you Ma’am……….. Talk Soon
I thought there was a hiring freeze for the 2nd position!!
Good luck! To make a difference is going to be hard such is the mindset of road users here. But I do hope you can make a difference.
very nice girl from point, congrats
