“Pirates Of Bermuda” Event Set For Tomorrow
The Pirates of Bermuda have once again taken members of the community hostage, all in the name of a good cause, with the hostages to be saved by the paying of charitable ransom or made to walk the plank tomorrow [March 5] from 2.00pm to 5.00pm at No. 1 dock.
The funds raised from this event ensure the continued operation of Bermuda Sloop Foundation’s Education and Character Development Programme on board Spirit of Bermuda.
Organised by the Bermuda Sloop Foundation as its largest fundraiser of the year, the event features a charitable goal of $150,000; the 2015 iteration of the event had a goal of $200,000, while the 2014 event raised more than $150,000 and the 2013 event raised more than $100,000.

The annual event sees the public make donations in the form of ransom for the hostages, with that ransom able to go toward encouraging a hostage to “sink or swim,” with many being made to walk the plank into the waters of Hamilton Harbour.
According to the event poster, the hostage participants include Ashley Estwanik, Ed Ball, Jim Butterfield, Christopher Famous, Chris Furbert, and many more.
