Mikhail Nisbett Receives Support To Attend Camp

April 20, 2016

The Bermuda Association of Professional Engineers [BAPE] is supporting Mikhail Nisbett, allowing the young “engineer in the making” to attend a John Hopkins University Academic Explorations Camp this summer.

The camp is three weeks long and offers courses on several topics that typically are not part of the standard middle or high school curriculum.

A spokesperson said, “Mikhail was awarded the chance to go to the camp after taking an entrance exam supported by the Center for Talented Youth [CTY] Bermuda in 2014, but was unable to attend the 2015 camp.

“Mazina, his mother, reached out to both the BAPE and CTY Bermuda in 2015 asking if there was any way either of the organizations could help turn this dream of his into reality and both the BAPE and CTY have agreed to assist towards this worthy cause.”

“Mikhail is doing his part as well, working at the MarketPlace packing groceries and raising as much as he can.

Stephanie Simons, secretary of the BAPE said, ‘We are thrilled for Mikhail. His wonderful attitude, love of learning and the aptitude that he has for math and the sciences leads me to believe that we have another engineer in the making.”

President of BAPE Adam Hawley said, “This is wonderful experience and our Association is thrilled that we could help. These types of experiences can be life changing and we are confident that this young man will take full advantage of the opportunity he has been given.”
