The third presentation of the Eunice Sharpe Memorial Award took place at Francis Patton School, with graduate Rudy Brianna Puhekker receiving the honour.

A spokesperson said, “The third presentation of the Eunice Sharpe Memorial Award occurred Wednesday evening during the closing ceremony at Francis Patton School.

“Decorated in the school colours of red, blue, and gold, the main school auditorium was transformed into a palatial hall of honour.

“Fifteen graduates, attired in their academic robes, adored the stage in their blazing, dazzling red, blue, and gold.

“The hall packed with family, friends, former teachers, and students were inspired and uplifted by the graduates’ entrance pausing under the golden arch as each made their entrance to rousing applause.

“Full of pride in their individual and collective accomplishments, Principal Mr. Todd G. Fox could not contain nor hide his deep emotions. Keynote speaker, herself a former student of Francis Patton, Ms. Kennette J. Burgess, now a professional business coach, strategic marketing consultant, and entrepreneur, encouraged and inspired the graduates to reach for the sky while at the same time keep their ‘boots on the ground.’

“For the second time since its inception, the Eunice V. Sharpe Memorial Award was presented to graduate Rudy Brianna Puhekker. She won it in 2023 and again this year. The award was conceived in 2021 by the Baha’is of Hamilton Parish on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the passing of ‘Abdi’l-Baha, son of the Prophet Founder of the Baha’i Faith.

“‘Abdu’l-Baha was born on the 23 May 1844 and he died 27 November 1921 in the Holy Land. And the Award is in honour of the late Mrs. Eunice V. Sharpe a former stalwart member of the Hamilton Parish Baha’i community. All her children attended Francis Patton School. Mrs. Sharpe was an avid supporter of the school; one of her daughters taught at the school and all three daughters were present at Wednesday evening’s presentation.

“Also present were the Education Commissioner, Mrs. Kalma Richards, Cabinet Minister Diallo Rabain, Minister of Seniors and Community Affairs Mrs. Tinee Furbert, and area MPs.”
