BF&M, Argus Support BCHC Radiation Therapy

May 27, 2016

BF&M and Argus Insurance said they are pleased to announce their support for the development of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s Radiation Therapy Facility.

BF&M President and CEO John Wight said, “BF&M is thrilled to support this initiative. Local radiation treatment at the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre provides an opportunity for patients to have a stronger support system and ease during an already difficult treatment. We truly believe this will be a meaningful addition to Bermuda’s healthcare system.”

Alison Hill, Chief Executive Officer of the Argus Group, says: “Argus is proud to support the work of the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, Dr. Fosker and the BHB team in bringing radiation therapy to Bermuda.

“This provides an exciting opportunity to enhance the care for cancer patients on the island, allow for more integrated care and improve the access to care for all who are fighting cancer. Argus looks forward to working with this dedicated team of medical providers as they collaborate to provide comprehensive, high quality cancer care in Bermuda.”

According to Tara Curtis, Executive Director at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, “a significant amount of the planning and development work for the radiation therapy project has now been completed.  Under a Pre-Opening Services Agreement, the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in Boston has been engaged to provide advisory services to Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre in connection with the design and construction of the Bermuda Radiation Therapy Centre and the development of its radiotherapy programme”.

Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre has also entered into a Collaboration Agreement with the Bermuda Hospitals Board, under which Clinical Oncologist at KEMH VII Hospital, Dr. Chris Fosker, consultant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and affiliate member of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute medical staff, is working closely with the Dana Farber / Brigham and Women’s Cancer Centre to develop the local programme.
