Men’s Futsal: Athletico CP & C-Side Win
A men’s futsal double header took place inside the Bermuda College Gymnasium with 29 goals scored.
In the game of the evening, it was the young guns versus the old ones with Athletico CP just barely defeating St. George’s 8 – 6. Fans were treated to an exciting game and St. George’s showed their experience and jumped out to an early lead with some classic goal scoring and at half-time were ahead 3 to 2.
In the second half St. George’s maintained the lead and scored a few early goals. However, towards the end, Atletico applied high pressure and closed the gap to tie the game up at 6 all. St. George’s started to show their age and Atletico scored 2 goals in the final two minutes to win the game. MVP for Atletico was their Captain and goalkeeper Dashun Cooper who made a series of fine saves to keep his team in the game. Del Tyrell was St. George’s MVP scoring a classic hat trick.
In the second game of the evening, league leaders C-Side gave new boys Talent FC a baptism of fire and jumped out to a 6 to 1 lead by half-time. The second half was more of the same with C-Side scoring another 6 goals to Talent FC’s 2 goals to win the game 12 to 3. Julian Carpenter was MVP for C-Side scoring 3 goals. Shakeem Albouy was MVP for Talent.
