Large Quantity Of Corn & Broccoli Stolen
[Updated] A large quantity of corn and broccoli was stolen from fields in Devonshire and Smith’s, with an Agricultural Officer saying that the quantity that was stolen indicates the “perpetrator[s] are looking to sell the stolen produce.”
An email was sent out by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to store managers and others in the industry warning them of the theft, and asking them to be wary of unfamiliar or suspicious individuals trying to sell the produce.
The email said, “Please note that recently a large quantity of corn and broccoli has been stolen from fields in the Devonshire and Smith’s area. Given the quantity that was stolen, it is clear that the perpetrator[s] are looking to sell the stolen produce rather than eat it.
“Please do not buy any local produce, especially fresh corn and broccoli, from individuals that are not regular vendors or seem suspicious when trying to sell local produce. Quite often these individuals are looking for a quick sale at a low price and looking for a cash payment.
“I know that most of you are well aware of these types of sales and individuals and wouldn’t purchase from them. However, if they do approach you, please contact me or the police so we can try to put a stop to this on-going problem.”
Anyone who may have any knowledge of this incident is asked to contact the police on 295-0011.
Update 1.42pm: The Government has now issued a formal press release to the media about the theft, saying, “The public is advised not buy any local produce, especially fresh corn and broccoli, from individuals that are not regular vendors or who seem suspicious when trying to sell local produce.
“Quite often these individuals are looking for a quick sale at a low price and looking for a cash payment.
“Anyone who has any knowledge of this incident or encounters suspicious individuals selling corn and broccoli is asked to contact the police on 295-0011.”

Dont worry Farma Mon. We guys gone catch these Vegans together. Shrow me de pitch fork.
Actually de human digestive system is not strong enough to break down corn, it’s an animal food.
Ah ha. That’s why you see them on the way out LOL!
Wow, with the time and effort necessary to steal the produce, the perps could put that energy into a real job…
Or growing it themselves…
These thieves are the worst, same goes for those buying stolen produce.
cheaper than the stores lmfao…
Thiefs!!
This is an ongoing problem, and I feel for the farmers. My husband helps with a small farm (as a hobby) and it is back breaking work. After all of that effort, to have thieves come in and just take what they want has to be beyond frustrating. Good to warn the grocers to look out, but sadly these guys no doubt have willing customers lined up to buy the vegetables.
Even though you may be saving a buck or two, please DO NOT buy from these thieving rats.
Careful what you buy folks.
Could be a corn job……………………………………
Jokes aside, some poor guy has just been deprived of his living.
Hope he just sprayed wiTh thiefacide.
Gross behavior, stealing from local farmers is beyond low! What are we becoming, and please no one say feed the family thing, that would mean taking a few ears not the whole crop!
People can’t find job’s and they have to eat.Gonna get worse.
You don’t steal a farmers crop! That is serious bad karma! And beyond low, grow your own!
Well I am thinking about setting up a small business and getting the permits and stuff to do it after I make enough money. I have been unemployed for a while. Its a good thing I don’t have any kids I don’t know how that feels I can only guess even thought I had a pet cat when I was little and had to pack bags in order to feed him. Kids are a different ballpark and God forbid they get sick in a time like now.
You don’t steal that much produce because you’re hungry. It wil go off wway before you could possibly eat it all. The even sadder part is that most it probably will just end up going bad. It’s hard to hawk off that much food illegally without someone finding out about it. The buyers will be careful. Some will be sold and the rest will go to waste.
Restaurants !
hope the low life scum eat pesticide treated corm and broccoli in their next life
Steal from local farmers now, complain that the price of produce has gone up even more later. Some laugh but that’s like stealing a taxi driver’s car.
Aye BURN learn how to spell mate. U sound like a 3 Year old that can’t speak English or even type probably smh.
