OMG oh no…Glad no one is seriously hurt.
This is so unfortunate! This is a parents worse nightmare, to hear news like this from afar. Bless God that this wasn’t that bad. Hope all the kids recover. Question is why there were only 2 adults with 23 children? That ratio is not right for all of the children.
Because they told parents that they could not accompany their child in the trip. Only teachers and students allowed.
It was actually 4 adults who went on the trip and 1 was the principal.
That is the norm for school trips. Student to teacher ratio 6 to 1, and teachers only.
Well then your child mossed out on a lifetime opportunity. Begin to slavken the lease..
lol can you just wish them well and be about your day? like damn.
Typical Onion workers M-F.
Once they get home they shut up.
After 2017 won’t be much left.
Shalom.
Idiot strikes again. Get a life, Terry.
The ratio would not have made any difference; it was an accident. Let’s not start this nonsense, just thank God that all is well.
@curios, you curious does not add up, please explain No# of adults vs children =/+ accident ???
It didn’t say there were only two adults. It said two adults were transported to the hospital.
As if 23 adults accompanying them would have avoided the accident….SMH
I was thinking the same thing, just be glad everything turned out the way it did. Goodness people
Actually the ratio was correct for the age of the students and there were more than 2 adults. Glad everyone is reportedly doing okay
Hope that all the children are ok. Terrible for a parent to hear this news.
does anyone know what school they are from
Right now?
Hard knocks.
Take care.

Sandys Secondary Middle School. My little sister who is on the trip was in the crash.
Hope she is ok
Pray all is well!!!
Praise the Lord….Guide and protect them through the remainder of their trip Lord.
The lord hasn’t done a very good job of keeping them safe so far, has he.
Glad to hear the students are OK but wondering why students are going on college tours before they even reach high school. College tours are traditionally undertaken in one’s final year of high school, at the age of 17, not 12-14. Strange.
It’s an educational tour. Well done to them for making this possible! Accidents can happen anywhere. Glad no one seriously injured. Get well soon.
It shouldn’t be strange of what age they are going on College trips. This is the RIGHT time because while in Middle and Senior school they can prepare to sit certain exams or have a idea of what types of exams they need to complete to attend these colleges.
Furthermore, they are getting geared up to explore different colleges outside of Bermuda, so they have something to focus on. This is not a strange thing at all. This is excellent!
I am happy for Sandys Middle School principal to plan this trip for the kids. Some peoples minds are so narrow and don’t see the good in this trip. It’s unfortunate this accident happen but I am happy they are all okay.
It is strange. 12 year olds on college trips?
Set the aspiration. Such tours are a great idea. I am glad they are safe.
Why are you people so hurtful just say you are glad most off the kids are okay cause my hurt a little and they are alive thank you
Because this is Bermuda and that’s how people are. Sad isn’t it?
Glad the children are doing well and there were no fatalities.
Imagine 4 Cabinet Ministers and 3 Opposition members injured.
No one would give a s***…………………………………………
Shalom.
If some of the parents or guardians of the children are making any of the comments on here I wouldnt want you on the trip either.
Gingus relax for a change so much hostility…
So, who was driving? Looks like a rear ender. You can’t tailgate in the US like you can in Bermuda. Ever hear of the 2 second rule?
That’s a matter for the police. Assume driver was a experienced, qualified US driver.
Big assumption. Anyone can rent those 15 passenger vans & drive on a Bermuda license.
Chill out S@## happens. Nobody got hurt badly you need to know that there is always a possibility of something going wrong and there was more likelihood that they would have had an accident in Bermuda than overseas. All I want to know is why are 12-14 year olds touring colleges?
Its none of your business.
It’s a public school. The teachers are being paid by taxpayers. What are they doing taking 12 year olds on college trips? It doesn’t make any sense.
What is wrong with you it’s a education tour and the teachers paid for there trips like everyone else.
The teacher’s salaries are paid by taxpayers. So what they do is not ‘none of our business’.
So why are 12 year olds touring colleges?
Who pays the teachers salary while they’re doing these trips then, moron?
Technically the teachers are STILL working…..their STUDENTS are in their care…..and instead of the NORMAL 8 hours per day they actually have them 24/7 in this instance…Soooooooo they are being paid by the Department of Education as per norm……and NO overtime……would you look at that……
Why are they touring colleges with 12 year olds?
Since these children are in public school and I pay tax which in turn pays for public school it is my business. If you do not understand the simple formula you should try paying for your own kid’s education and I won’t ask any trick questions.
Delighted these young adults are safe. However, as a former college lecturer it seems odd that middle school students are viewing colleges. The current local education it would appear, needs to have students in school all day, every dayand educating them to the highest level of their ability. Colleges trips are much more relevant at 17 and 18 years of age.
Once again to get the children exposed early so they have options I bet you did not want to be a college lecture. Boring.
TJ sounds like you had too many days out of school and obviously never sat in a college lecture. Believe me they are not boring., but then how would you know?
Clearly. You have lost your mid it’s education it’s a tour I bet you did not have this opportunity your like 67. This why your probably not a lecture any more because your a idiotic fool.
I would love for my child in the public school system (primary school) to go on a college tour at age 12. I try to teach that college/university is important and to study hard and get good grades to ensure that they can earn a place in university and possibly earn a scholarship. Children need to understand that they can and should go to college and families need to work hard to make that happen. Not everyone grows up in a family where college is assumed. If you don’t have the mindset for college and wait until 17 or 18, it’s too late to start preparing!
Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt! Wishing all the students and teachers a safe trip back home when they return.
Really don’t understand the wankers that have zero to contribute. All that’s needed is well wishes period. No one asked for anyone to put on the Sherlock Holmes hat a play internet detective from a few pictures. It doesn’t matter why they were visiting colleges or any other ridiculous reason to try and speak like this could have been avoided. It’s scary the thought pattern of some bloggers man….gee
Right. If you have nothing good to say don’t say it . Some people have lives to tend to.
Thank god there was no one badly hurt. Get them home safely God please.
GLAD to hear that the students are fine. I see nothing wrong with the students touring colleges as it gives them something to strive for….Sad that some feel that they should be in High School before they should even be thinking of College…..My train of thought is “sowing the seed”…..looking at the bigger picture…..They are on an EDUCATIONAL Tour…..The teachers are STILL working…..SMH as “Why are they on a college tour?” seems to be MORE important to SOME than their actual safety……
I don’t really care what type of tour it is as long as it is not on the taxpayers dime. Educational tours are great. The private schools do them. College tours for 12 year olds? No. Educational tours of Washington museums & nearby places like Jamestown? Yes.
Who was driving? One of the staff? Appears to be a simple rear ender caused by driver error.
