BASE And BHB To Hold Free Autism Lecture

Bermuda Autism Support & Education and the Bermuda Hospitals Board invite the community to learn more about autism spectrum disorder [ASD] at a free public lecture to be held on Thursday, June 30 from 7-8pm at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

The lecture, entitled Autism Spectrum Disorder and Other Commonly Occurring Conditions, will be given by Doctors Gagan Joshi and Varuna Tuli who will discuss how ASD can affect behavior patterns and the development of social and communication skills.

They will consider the interaction of ASD with other conditions, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders and fragile X syndrome.

Dr Joshi is the director of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Autism Spectrum Disorders Program. He cares for children and adults through the Bressler Clinic for Autism and general child psychiatry clinic at MGH. Dr Joshi is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Dr Tuli is the director of Outpatient Pediatrics at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts. She specializes in treating children and adolescents with complex medical, mental health and educational needs.
