French Guiana Replay Scheduled For June 19th

June 8, 2016

Bermuda faced French Guiana a week ago [June 1] in the 2nd round of the Caribbean Cup competition before heavy rain at the Stade Dr Edmard Lama Stadium forced the match to be abandoned. Damon Ming scored the game’s only goal in the 11th minute.

At that time a Bermuda Football Association [BFA] spokesperson said the “game was abandoned due to heavy rain after 41 minutes of play with Bermuda leading 1-0. The Caribbean Football Union [CFU] will reschedule the match with a date yet to be confirmed.”

Tonight the BFA said, “The Bermuda Football Association made representation to the Caribbean Football Union in respect of the costs to travel to French Guiana for the replay match.

“The CFU has now announced “the abandoned match of 1 June between French Guiana and Bermuda will be replayed in its entirety for 90 minutes. The match will be played on 19 June 2016 at 4:00pm in French Guiana.

“CFU will provide financial assistance to Bermuda for airfare and overnight accommodations en route. CFU will provide French Guiana with financial assistance to host and accommodate the Bermuda team and match officials.”

“The BFA welcomes the news of the financial assistance and our planning starts immediately to ensure success in French Guiana.”
