2 Hour Video/Photos: L. Frederick Wade Forum
The “L. Frederick Wade, His Political Life and Legacy” forum was held on Thursday night [Aug 25] at the EF Gordon Hall at BIU Headquarters on Union Square, with attendees filling the hall and standing outside.
The evening was hosted by MP Walter Roban and included presentations by Dame Jennifer Smith, Alex Scott, Dr. Ewart Brown, Paula Cox, Victor Fishington and Dale Butler. The night started with a prayer by Reverend Nicholas Tweed, followed by Dawn Simmons reading a biography of L. Frederick Wade.
At the end of the evening, widow of the late PLP leader, Ianthia Wade, said, “Tonight’s forum on ‘L. Frederick Wade, His Political Life and Legacy’ was a great success and his family, Michelle, Gregory, Yusef, Ceola, Kamela, Frederick, and I were very appreciative for this recognition after 20 years.
“Having all of the former PLP Premiers on stage together for the first time was a very powerful statement and a sign of unity.”

“It’s was like déjà vu listening to my husband’s political biography. It was history repeating itself as they spoke of how he strategized and took decisive action to poise the PLP to win the Government – and it worked. The PLP is the Government in waiting again. There is much work to be done.
“I continue to believe that the PLP is the best hope for the people of Bermuda as many our people are suffering and have lost hope.
“The party is bigger than any one person. The leader of our party needs to lead, he needs to listen, he needs to follow, he needs to deal effectively with the many challenges within the party, he needs to respect the culture of the PLP, he needs to mobilize this party, he needs to rekindle the confidence of the people, which will result in a victory for the PLP in the next general election.”
“Our people need to have the faith that as the Government, the PLP will serve them and make decisions that will make Bermuda a better place for all Bermudians.
“There is much work to be done. My husband’s legacy will live on. I don’t believe that anyone will ever say Freddy who? After all, there’s LF Wade International Airport which will hopefully be there forever.”

@onion juice, good job the Canadian bank and investment firm stepped in to help the PLP when the 200 million the government had guaranteed for the Bank of Butt. went south. They certainly saved the PLP’s backside.

For the record. I had much respect for Mr. Frederick Wade. He on the other hand would not be to impressed with the way in which his beloved party has taken this country. I.e. The debt we carry right now is a direct result on poor management of our countries money. Calling me a wanker is a much better honor that would be bestowed upon you. Now take your hands out of your pockets.
Look where naming all these buildings,schools,and airport got Bermuda. Just a reminder to all the blind and stupid in the PLP!
