Bermuda Flag Emoji On Twitter For Olympics
With the 2016 Summer Olympic Games set to get underway in Rio today [Aug 5], Twitter has released a set of 207 new emojis, representing various national flags using a three-letter hashtag, including #BER for Bermuda, which when used, automatically renders a Bermuda flag.
A story on the official Rio 2016 website says, “”The Olympic Games are finally here with the opening ceremony at the MaracanĂ£ on Friday kicking off a three-week extravaganza of sport.”
Tweet highlighting the Bermuda flag emoji from three-time Olympian Tyrone Smith:
“To mark the occasion, Twitter has released 207 brand new team emojis so that fans across the globe can share their passion and follow their favourite teams.
“Tweeting with the three-letter country code hashtags will trigger flag emojis for each of the countries, including the Refugee Olympic Team [#ROT].​ While the country flags and sport icons make up most of the emojis, there are more general hashtags that go along with the Olympic Games, medals and the ceremonies.”
